Anthony Downer II

Background


Anthony Downer II is an abolitionist educator, teacher leader and mentor, and community organizer who prioritizes Black-centric curriculum and instruction in secondary and tertiary education. Anthony is also an educational consultant, policy strategist, curriculum developer, and researcher of critical race studies. He currently teaches Africana studies and government/civics at Frederick Douglass High School He also hosts a podcast show on Educational Entities called “Dat Way: Conversations on Education and Liberation.” Anthony holds a Master of Arts in Teaching Social Studies Education from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Chicago. He has previously worked in civic engagement and community-centric organizations, government offices, and political and grassroots campaigns. Outside of teaching and organizing, Anthony enjoys following shows, social media, and sports. He was raised and resides in Norcross, Georgia.
